Okay, so I am constantly being asked by people for new music and/or recommendations. So, I think it’s about time I’ve dedicated a post to it. I will also link this on my page in case I end up adding to it later.
I’ll sort them by genre for easy picking. Looking for new music? Whatever, I write here, seriously give them a shot.
Instrumental/Contemporary/Electronic:
- Explosions In The Sky - They’re a rock band without lyrics. Almost all of their songs are over 5 minutes long.
- M83 - I could listen to them forever. They are very different from everything else in this category.
- Sigur Rós - I get the shivers every time I listen to them.
- Ludovico Einaudi - He’s Italian. He’s classical. What more could you ask for? Every one of his songs are beautiful. Some feature a vocalist.
- The Cinematic Orchestra - They are what they are called, an orchestra. Some of their songs also feature a vocalist.
Indie/Indie Rock/Indie Pop/Folk
- Seqouyah Prep School - My little brother introduced me to them almost 4 years ago. I don’t think they appreciated/known by enough people. Their southern acoustic sound melts my heart.
- Margot and The Nuclear So & So’s - There are 6 people in this band. 6 reasons to love them.
- Makeshift Lullaby - This band is virtually unknown. I am their top listener on Last.fm. Everything they sing is so beautiful. Anything acoustic wins my heart instantly and, they are 100%. *sigh*
- Amandine - One of my most cherished bands. In combination with their violinist, everything they do is beautiful.
- Ray LaMontagne - His voice is so beautiful. Majestic, I tell you. Lol.
- Act As If - I haven’t been listening to them for long but, as soon as I heard them, I fell in love.
- As Tall As Lions - The singer’s voice
- The xx - They are completely different. And, that’s a awesome thing.
- Elliot Smith - His music is beautiful. The only sad thing is that he committed suicide a few years back.
Alternative/Alternative Rock
- VAST - Another one of my favorites. Their acoustic/ambient sound makes me shiver every time I listen. Some of the songs are so depressing, I love it.
- Susie Suh - Oh my gosh, her voice.
- Bloc Party - I dare you to listen to them and not dance in your seat.
- TV On The Radio - The same thing goes with this band. They never fail to make me dance.
Techo/Progressive House
- Deadmau5 - What’s more awesome than a DJ’ing mouse? lol
- Tiësto - His remixes are just way too amazing.
Rock
- Chevelle
- A Perfect Circle
- Red
All three of these bands are ones you need to listen to right now if you don’t already. And, that is an order.
There you have it. I have way too much music, of almost any genre so, I am going to stop there. I tried to list some bands I thought many of you may have never even listened to. If you have any questions or comments, ~come to me. lol
